IKEA Cirkel table lamp - Iconic 90s design
A rare find in the Ikea catalog, the Cirkel lamp demonstrates a bold design, at the crossroads of industrial functionalism and the postmodern experimentation of the 1990s. Composed of a large glass disc resting on a chrome-plated metal shaft and a circular black base, it asserts a graphic and minimal, almost conceptual aesthetic. At its center, a black metal grid houses the light source, projecting a subtle halo through the transparent surfaces. This interplay of materials and volumes makes the Cirkel a sculptural piece with a strong presence, halfway between a lighting fixture and a utilitarian art object.
Having become rare on the market, this edition highlights Ikea's ability, at that time, to produce radical pieces at a controlled cost, in a spirit close to that of certain avant-garde Italian or Dutch publishers.
